Summer Reading 2016

Beat ‘summer slide’ with great books from Perma-Bound!
Summer vacation! What could be more wonderful? But this joyful time of family, friends, and fun in the sun has a potential downside: “summer slide,” the decline in skills that many students experience during months away from school. According to the National Summer Learning Association, this hiatus from learning results in, on average, a 22 percent loss in instructional time in the fall for students who haven’t maintained their reading skills.
Fortunately, though, there’s an easy and fun solution: reading as few as four to six books over the summer prevents a drop in reading skills and test scores when school resumes, according to research. So, with a summer reading program, your students can seek the sun—while keeping the light of learning bright!
